SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Technical falls by Ryan Smith and Filip Novachkov plus a major decision by Chase Pami gave No. 16 Cal Poly just enough bonus points to edge Arizona State 20-18 in a Pacific-10 Conference dual meet Friday night. The Mustangs forfeited the bout at 125 but did not give up any more bonus points as Arizona State secured four wins by decision. Each team won five matches. SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Sophomore 174-pound wrestler Ryan DesRoches recorded two falls and a pair of decisions en route to a championship in his weight class at the California Collegiate Open on Saturday, thus earning Coca-Cola/Cal Poly Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season.
