Cal Poly Defeats UC Davis, 34-7, in Final Dual Meet of Season

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Cal Poly seniors Micah Ferguson and Chase Pami earned victories in their final duals as Mustangs and junior Filip Novachkov won by a fall as the No. 16 Mustangs defeated UC Davis 34-7 in a Pacific-10 Conference dual wrestling meet Friday night before 705 in Mott Gym. Cal Poly Beats Arizona State, 20-18, for Dual Meet Victory

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Technical falls by Ryan Smith and Filip Novachkov plus a major decision by Chase Pami gave No. 16 Cal Poly just enough bonus points to edge Arizona State 20-18 in a Pacific-10 Conference dual meet Friday night. The Mustangs forfeited the bout at 125 but did not give up any more bonus points as Arizona State secured four wins by decision. Each team won five matches. SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- The Cal Poly wrestling team, which was idle last week, moved up slightly in the national polls, ranked Nos. 13, 16, 16 and 16 this week. Ryan DesRoches, 174, Sophomore, Deer Park, Wash. SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Sophomore 174-pound wrestler Ryan DesRoches recorded two falls and a pair of decisions en route to a championship in his weight class at the California Collegiate Open on Saturday, thus earning Coca-Cola/Cal Poly Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season.
